It's been a good weekend. Joe and I decided at the last minute on Thursday that we wanted to take Aiden for a getaway. We ended up at Stone Mountain and it was pretty awesome.
We have been so crazy busy lately with trying to get all of our paperwork updated for adoption and then getting the room ready for Kevin and then planning out the trip to Florida for 2 to 3 weeks that we haven't been able to spend a lot of "special" time with Aiden. So we thought this would be a great time. It was fun. It allowed us to keep our minds off of the "what we would be doing right now if everything had worked out." We hiked the mountain last night (well some of it) and we saw a mommy and baby deer hiking too! Y'all they were SO close to us. Just a few feet away. We followed them into the woods a little and they stayed pretty close to us. Aiden LOVED it.....he wanted to pet them...but,of course, they wouldn't let us that close to them.
After that we went back to our hotel and did some night swimming. My little guy finally let me let go of him in the deep water (he had on a life jacket and I was right there) but he was SO proud of himself. We laughed and played with him for a couple of hours in the pool- it felt really good to do that again.
This morning we took Aiden to their playground and played with him. His big request was to "ride the choo-choo." So that was our priority today. Joe and I also wanted to ride the sky ride to the top and spend some time up there. We didn't want to spend a lot of money. So our plan was to just do those two things....but as we were in the line a stranger asked us if we had bought our tickets yet. We told him no. He gave us an "All Day Adventure Pass" that they had an extra of. That means you get to do everything in the park. Tell me that wasn't a gift from God. He used a stranger to do it - but God knew that pass was So much more than a pass. It was a "quiet confirmation" from our God that He was pleased with us and that He was pleased that we were taking some time away with our family....and that HE cares about us and that He can still move mountains.
So we enjoyed our day at the park and we are home. Aiden is with his maw-maw tonight now so that Joe and I can have some much needed time with each other.
We are ready to get back into this process. We have spoken with our agency and she has some situations that she is going to send us next week. Not sure if anything will come from any of them but we'll see where God takes us.
Just praying that this time it will happen quickly and successfully with little risk.
We'll keep you posted! Thanks for "riding along side us" on this crazy ride again!
